President's Welcome

rev-bill-sassoPlease join us for District Assembly 2013 in Waukesha, Wisconsin, on April 26th-28th!

Unitarian Universalists from all over our Central Midwest District will be present for this very special gathering, and I hope you will be one of them! On Friday evening, the infectiously enthusiastic Rev. Nicole Kirk, who has recently joined the faculty of Meadville Lombard Theological School in Chicago, will share her insights about Unitarian Universalist accomplishments and experiences and how they have shaped today's UU congregations and movement in our region. Saturday morning will feature the notable Rev. Nate Walker, a creative minister, an inspiring social justice leader, and an innovative congregational leader. Nate will work forward from our historical foundations to sketch exciting opportunities that our future may hold. On Saturday afternoon, we’ll have the opportunity to make UU history in our annual district business meeting, as our delegates cast their votes regarding formation of the MidAmerica Region of the UUA. This vote will be the culmination of a multi-year process that has engaged CMwD congregations and leaders, our partners in the Heartland and Prairie Star Districts, and the UUA.
Beyond these highlights, DA 2013 promises a set of stimulating and informative workshops, as well as the chance to renew continuing friendships and to create new ones!

I look forward to seeing you in Waukesha at DA 2013!

Sincerely, (signed) Bill Sasso -- President, CMwD
